ATW Events are the UK’s leading multi-sport event company and entering our races in 2025 will also make athletes eligible to compete in our new annual race series. My Tri Ranking launched in early 2024 but has rapidly become the gold standard for scoring and ranking performances by British triathletes and duathletes. This partnership will see My Tri Ranking’s algorithmic performance scoring methodology used to supercharge the new 2025 ATW series.
James Shipley, Managing Director of ATW Events, commented ‘we have had our ATW race series in the works for a while and are thrilled to be able to finally publicly announce. Partnering with My Tri Ranking means we can now confidently compare performances even if they occur in different races, which we feel adds huge credibility and a legitimate competition element to our series’. Will Senior, Co-Founder of My Tri Ranking, commented ‘ATW runs loads of brilliant events so we feel privileged to be able to sprinkle our data into their new competition to help make the athlete experience even better. It’s credit to James and his ATW team that they are constantly looking to evolve. This marks another exciting step on our path to My Tri Ranking becoming the common currency of multi-sport performance’.
Several event organisers already run their own event series competitions but layering in My Tri Ranking data makes this unique and first of its kind. My Tri Ranking uses algorithms to simulate how the British number 1 would have performed in each and every race, which then makes it possible to compare performances regardless of where they occur. ‘The beauty of our methodology is that using 40k+ British athletes we have seen perform before, we can indirectly take every race variable into account. This means whether you race on wet, hilly, muddy course in Cornwall or in perfect conditions in Cardiff, every performance by every athlete gets the fair and comparable credit it deserves’. ATW also wanted to reward regular racers, so apply a bonus beyond the official My Tri Ranking score for frequent participants in their series.
Whilst taking part in a unique new series or topping the ATW league table will be motivation enough for many, there are lots of rewards on offer. There will be prizes for the overall Open and Female category winners and free ATW race entry for each 10 year age group winner at the end of 2025.
Both parties were also keen to point out that although this partnership is very exciting, their core much loved offerings will also still exist. ‘Athletes can still enter any ATW event, regardless of whether they are concerned with the series. We hope the series is a value add for the people who want it but all of our normal race entry options are still available to those not concerned with a wider competition’ said James. Similarly, My Tri Ranking will continue to score all domestic British events and major international events independent of the ATW series, with rankings showing on www.mytriranking.com .
Keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks for the finer details of the ATW 2025 competition series.
