Dorney Lake,
An Epic Point-To-Point Adventure
Castle to Coast takes athletes on a stunning adventure all the way from Dorney Lake near Windsor, to Brighton Sea Front by Swim, Bike & Run.
This beautiful course starts with a calm 1.2 mile lake swim, before cycling 67 miles through the rolling Surrey Hills and onto a scenic 14 mile trail run across the South Downs all the way to Brighton sea front.
The route isn't the fastest way from A to B, its the best way. Taking in the beauty of both the North and South Downs, it merges the beauty of views out over London and Brighton with rural villages and challenging climbs. It's easier to power up a climb knowing it's taking you one step closer to your end destination and leaving you with fantasic views over the top.
This is a course designed to be experienced and enjoyed, alongside friends and clubmates. With relaxed cut offs and a fantastic supportive atmosphere, thanks to its sportive nature, this event brings something special to the sport that you won't regret taking part in, be this your first or hundreth triathlon.
In short it means this is a non-competitive event and as such it is not governed by the normal competitions rules of British Triathlon.
By focusing on the challenging journey itself and shedding the idea of a race, Castle to Coast opens up a number of otherwise closed possibilities, such as our non standard distances, relaxed starts, less restrictions around equipment, and most importantly the ability to complete the journey the whole way alongside your friends and club mates.
From making sure your bags are available to you at every stop on the journey, to delivering your finish line meal, we take care of all the logistics.
The event is fully supported from the thousands of arrows out on course, to the mechanics and medical teams. We have a professional team of experienced route managers who make sure you have everything you need on event day.
Don't worry, we've got your back - simply book the return transport ticket and we'll take you and your kit back from the finish line on Brighton seafront to Windsor at the end of the day.
Our team option is in part self supported so you’ll need 2or3 team members and a car in order to make it happen.
Your swimmer will start the event by completing their 1.2 mile swim, on exiting the water they will come into the transition village and pass the timing chip to the second team member who will go out on the bike. Your team will then be responsible for transporting your runner (& swimmer) from Windsor down to Hassocks ready to start the run. After your runner has departed, you’ll collect your bike and load it in the car. The swimmer and cyclist will then make their way down to Brighton Sea Front ready to run down the finish chute together, collecting your medals and finish line goodies on the way.
“What an awesome experience. Brutal and beautiful in equal measure. I still cannot quite believe I did it, the furthest distance and the most challenging event I have taken part in. Well organised, great pit stops, helpful marshals, well marked course, and lovely finishing area. Brilliant double-sided medal. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to do something a bit different.”
"The swim was in an iconic Olympic location and the ride took us through the undulating Surrey Hills through some great scenery and beautiful villages. The run was brutal, however the fantastic countryside and views with minimal tarmac and urban setting, kept you going"
